Les Post-Match Swindon Town (A)

Les Post-Match Swindon Town (A)
Tranmere manager Les Parry admitted he had no complaints over the red card shown for Terry Gornell during the match against Swindon Town on Easter Monday, but questioned the penalty decision referee Oliver Langford gave during the heavy 3-0 defeat at the County Ground.

The home side took the lead early on, as loanee Chelsea defender Ben Gordon put the ball in his own net just 10 minutes in. Billy Paynter doubled Swindon`s lead on 37 minutes, and clinical striker Charlie Austin put the game to bed just under the hour mark.

Speaking after the game Manager Les Parry doubted the referee`s decision to award the Robins a penalty as Gornell stamped on Charlie Austin when the ball was not in play.

Les told after the match:

'Danny Wilson came out at half time and had a look at it on the video, and he said it looks as though he stamped on him.

If Terry did, he deserved to be sent off. There isn't a problem with that at all.

But Danny also said they hadn't taken the corner, so how you can get a penalty if the ball isn't in play is a bit beyond me. '

Parry also explained that he took Captain Ian Thomas-Moore and midfielder John Welsh off to rest the pair, so they will feel fresh for the Walsall game this Saturday.
