Kay to become a Terrier?

Tranmere captain Antony Kay is wanted by fellow League One rivals Huddersfield Town and newly promoted Peterborough United, Reports are claiming.

Kay, 26 has recently been awarded the Player of the year by Rovers and has been in impressive form all season scoring 11 goals and captaining his side to 7th, missing out by two points on a play off place.

The news will come across guttering for Rovers fans to take if he does leave the club, the Daily Mirror are reporting that Championship side Peterborough United are tracking the messiah, whilst local radio's and Sky Sports have told the public he is being strongly linked with a move to Huddersfield Town, which could be an ideal move for the Yorkshire man who still lives up them ways from his time at Barnsely.

Tranmere fans will be praying its nothing more than speculation and rumours, whatever the outcome , Kay will always be remembered for his 100% work rate and true captaincy.

Please stay, God.

buzzin bring mr kay to the terriers barmy army

Just like to post my thoughts on the Kay situation. Read in the Mirror this morning that Posh are after him but Hudders have been linked as well and I've also heard that Preston want him. If Kay were to go, I wouldn't blame him at all in all honesty. Looking at it, yes, we came two places ahead of Huddersfield but, in all honesty, I think we majorly over-achieved my coming 7th and they under-achieved with 9th. Pretty fair observation if you ask me. The Terriers have a fair bit of cash to spend and a lot of ambition and he's a Yorkshire lad so it'd make sense for him to go there. Preston, regardless of what divison they are in next season, would be an attractive prospect as they are a Championship club with a good manager and a very good squad who could very well make the top six in the Championship again should they stay down and keep key players. Posh are also a club with high ambition. They're aiming to be a Premier League club sooner rather than later and in Darren Ferguson, they have one of the best up and coming managers in the game. Surely too good an opportunity for Kaysy to turn down? Kay was easily our best player by last season. He was our Steven Gerrard if you will. Grabbed games, Brighton at home and Walsall at home to name but two, by the scruff of the neck and won us games with his goals. I'll be sad to see him inevitably go (I'm resigned to that now) but considering the resources, finances and ambition Huddersfield, Preston and Posh have, we just can't match or better it so I wouldn't be suprised to see him at the Galpharm, Deepdale or London Road next season. It would be a great signing for whoever he ends up at as he is the captain type who does carry the team through tough phases of the season, which he did for us on numerous occasions. It's just a shame we can't get a fee for him as he's out of contract. I think it would have taken a fair few hundred thousand pounds for us to accept the bid but as it is, he'll walk away for free. Hope he stays with us but like I said, it seems as though he will leave and if he does then best of luck to him.

Would be gutted to see him go, but half expected it to happen.

Think it's a matter of time before he goes now, just hope we can find an adequate replacement.
