Rhyl 3-1 Tranmere

A youngish Tranmere Rovers side continued our pre season preparations with a defeat to Rhyl at the Corbett Sports Stadium.

Manager Rob Edwards gave a few more youngsters than usual a run out, and our goalkeeper and back four on the night didn't have any league experience between them, so it would have been good run out for them and an interesting lesson alongside some of our seniors.

Striker Eliot Richards gave us the first chance of the night as he hit a 20 yarder after five minutes that brought a decent save from their keeper, but they settled and progressed quicker in the game and took the lead on 23 minutes, and it was two nil only ten minutes.

Tranmere did wake up at this stage and chances fell to Kayode Odejayi and Jake Kirby but their efforts were blocked, but even at this stage Rhyl were still creating opportunities of their own.

Just before the half time break, they made it three nil.

The second half was similar really and chances continued to fall our way but we didn't make the most of them, until Cole Stockton converted our consolation on 74 minutes.

Tranmere:

Ramsbottom, Gumbs (Holmes 59), Shaw (Ihiekwe 59), Boland (Holness 59), Dodd (Ridehalgh 59), Kirby (Bruna 59), Power (Laird 59), Woodards (Gill 48), Rowe (Duggan 59), Richards (Jago 59), Odejayi (Stockton 59).
