Forest At Home In The Cup

Forest At Home In The Cup

The draw for the first round of the Capital One Cup 2014-15 took place earlier today, and Tranmere Rovers have been paired with Nottingham Forest.

The game will take place in the week commencing August 11th, at Prenton Park as we have been given home advantage against the Championship side who were pushing for promotion last season via the play offs, so it's set to be a tough encounter for us, and a good test for manager Rob Edward's new team and new Tranmere.

To open our cup competition this season, the club are also offering entry to junior's for just £1 following a joint League and Sponsor initiative.

Two first round ties will be selected for TV viewing by Sky Sports and those games will take place on Monday August 11th and Wednesday August 13th, and both will kick off at 7.45pm.

Concrete date, kick off and ticket information will all follow in due course, as will details of the Junior initiative and information on how to redeem that price.

Jaidev Janardana, chief marketing officer at the sponsor's of the competition said of the Junior initiative.

'We wanted to make round one as family friendly as possible and we hope our great offer will encourage parents across the UK to treat the whole family to a host of great games, and, no doubt, goals galore.'

Tranmere fail to take chances in home defeat

A valiant effort from Tranmere wasn`t enough on the day as goals late in both half`s handing Huddersfield all three points.

The scoreline failed to paint the whole picture, with the homes side outplaying their second-placed opponents for large parts of the game. In fact, the Whites should have equalised through Adam McGurk in the second-half with the gap between the two teams at a single goal.

Showunmi strikes in home win

A fantastic defensive display from the Rovers defence saw Les Parry`s side claim a clean sheet and their first win in seven games against Colchester at Prenton Park.

Enoch Showunmi`s second-half goal proved to be the difference between the two sides, with two clearances off the line keeping the visitors at bay in a game that spawned very few chances.

Just the one change was made to the side that lined-up at Brighton last Saturday, with Dale Jennings returning from injury to start h
