'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Koumas Takes On Coaching Role

As well as signing his contract extension with us, midfielder Jason Koumas has also agreed to begin a coaching role in 2014-15.

As well as playing his part in the first team, he will also now be taking sessions with playing groups from the Academy up to the reserve side to help aide their development given his experience, and also to give him hands on experience as a coach as he begins taking his badges.

Speaking to the Official Site as the duel role was announced, Koumas explained.

'The club offered me a coaching role after the season finished. I've spoken to the manager about it and it's something we both want to do and I'm looking forward to it.'

Koumas says he's hoping for an easy transition because ultimately he loves watching football, he's always going to games when he's not playing himself, so taking the first steps into coaching now is something he's really looking forward to.

'The coaching role is great. Helping young players is something I want to do. I've got a lot of experience and I'm looking to use it.'

Manager Rob Edwards said that with Tranmere being Jason's club, it's the perfect place for him to start taking the steps into coaching because he knows not only is he learning and improving himself, but he's playing a greater part in improving the overall structure of the club itself.

'I'm keen for him to be involved. He's starting his coaching badges and when you get to his stage of your career you can add a lot of value to young players. He's somebody I'm looking forward to working with.'
