'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Koumas Raring To Go In 2014-15

Jason Koumas has said he'll be raring to go next season having rejoined the club last summer after spending a few years out of football.

The 34 year old initially signed a one year deal and went on to make 34 appearances for the club in our relegation season, scoring four times, but having penned his new 12 month deal this summer, he told the Official Site that he was already feeling better than this stage last season, so he can't wait to get going again.

'I felt last season I was forever catching up. I had two years out of the game and didn't think it would take me as long but it took me at least six months to get back into it. Then I was injured in the last month and playing on injections.'

Given that experience, Koumas admits he's already been working to keep his fitness up so far this summer, so he knows he'll start next campaign in a much better position and he'll be fitter and stronger from the get go and that hopefully will allow him to have a much better season and a big impact in our desire to get promoted back to League One at the first time of asking.

Giving his interview, he also admitted he'd met and spoke to our new gaffer Rob Edwards for the first time and he was enthused by what he had to say about how he wants Tranmere to play next year and what he wants to do at the club.

'I can tell he wants to play the right way and get the right players in. There will be an identity at Tranmere which is something we haven't had. I'm very impressed with him, I had a good chat and I think he's going to do well for us.'
