'If It's Football, It's Vital'

McMahon Responds To Bradford Defeat

Caretaker manager John McMahon has said his only choice in response to the loss yesterday and our relegation from League 1 is to simply look to the future because he knows how important it is that changes are made at the club to we can draw a line under this campaign and hopefully move forward with improvement.

Speaking to the press following the game and our league status being decided, he explained.

'As a football club we now need to review the structure of how we do things. We need a good base and a good structure to move forward with. I don't think the club has had one in recent season, the board need to put that in place because without those foundations we can't grow.'

McMahon goes on to say that in his opinion our 'player recruitment' needs a major overhaul and he also feels we need to put the right staff in place to help with that.

'My objective was to keep us in League One and unfortunately that hasn't happened. I am just disappointed for the fans, players and everyone connected with the club. We have struggled in previous seasons and it can't go on like that. The club needs to make changes because that is the only way to move it forward and we need to do that quickly.'

McMahon goes on to say that really the club needs to define itself and we need to create a style of play and an ethos at all levels, so we clearly know the type of players we should be targeting and then when bringing youngsters through they will already have been developed with our style of play in mind so the transition should be more seamless.

Certainly going to be a big summer now.
