Tranmere Terminate Moore Employment
Tranmere Rovers earlier today announced that they had terminated the employment of manager Ronnie Moore.
A statement on his future was both promised and expected, and following on from the charges that he admitted in relation to betting offences and multiple breaches of Rule E8(b) and his request for a personal hearing, the club obviously feel they have no alternative given the circumstances.
The statement as released by the club and Football Operations Director and Club Secretary Mick Horton reads.
'Tranmere Rovers will not tolerate any action that damages the integrity of this Football Club. Any staff members found to be guilty of misconduct will face severe action.'
Following on from this, the media have speculated that as part of Moore's personal hearing he made the point that the betting rules were unclear, and he was unaware that he was in breach by the betting he involved himself in - which apparently did not provide profit - and the FA Council have also today confirmed that they will be changing the existing betting rules which will now have a blanket ban on club staff betting on any games - not just competitions their clubs were involved with as was previously the case I believe.
