Pennington Return Guaranteed By Fans

Pennington Return Guaranteed By Fans

Tranmere secured the return of Matthew Pennington from Everton on loan ahead of today's deadline thanks to the Tranmere Rovers' Trust.

The right back returns to Prenton Park until the end of the current season having previously made nine appearances for us in his initial loan spell.

He also scored the winning goal in the game against Crewe Alexandra.

His return was made possible by the Trust who have agreed to fund his wages for the remaining five weeks of the season, and speaking to the Official Site assistant manager John McMahon could hardly hide his gratitude at the move or his delight at seeing the return of the player.

'I'm really pleased to bring Matt back to Prenton Park. I thought he got better and better in his first spell with us and I'm sure he'll quickly settle back into the club. I'd like to thank the Tranmere Rovers Trust for helping us. It's a fantastic gesture from our supporters and I'm sure Matt will repay them with his performances.'

McMahon goes on to say that after a troublesome campaign, and with eight games left he's delighted to see the supporters back the club in this way, and obviously he also extends his thanks to Everton and Roberto Martinez again for allowing the young talent to come out.

Trust chairman Ben Harris said of the move.

'We're delighted to be able to help out the club this way. Hopefully it will have the same impact as Les Aid did in 2009-10.'

The Trust obviously thank those who contribute into the 500 Club each month which has allowed this signing.
