Moore - We Deserved Shrewsbury Win

Manager Ronnie Moore has finally got something to smile about following our Boxing Day win over Shrewsbury Town, and he felt we more than deserved all three points.

Midfielder Andy Robinson scored the pivotal and only goal of the match in injury time in the first half, and Moore told the Official Site that as the game drew on he felt we grew into it and improved.

'I thought we earned it. We grew into the game, we were sloppy in the first half but we've had one or two decent chances in the second half. Overall I thought we deserved to win.'

Moore goes on to credit Liam Ridehalgh playing centre half for the shift he put in during the 90 minutes describing him as 'excellent' and as for the goal he believed it was a 'great' ball in with a 'good' finish.

Defensively Moore was also happier given we picked up another clean sheet and he felt we kept their chances to a minimum and those that did come in where coming in from distance, but he would've liked to have seen us press up a touch as he thought we were sitting too deep but that is natural following recent results, but in the second half we didn't sit back as much and invite pressure on, we were better and kept the ball better which limited them further.

The only slight disappointment for the gaffer was that we couldn't get the second because he would've loved that to have gone in to help further with confidence and also so that we could see the game out better with more comfort.

Despite all the positives, Moore doesn't go as far as saying we were brilliant on the day because we weren't, but we did enough and did the simple things well and it a massive three points again and he's delighted the fans would've travelled home happy with the result.

It wasn't only three points that some were celebrating come the final whistle, Danny Holmes and Owain Fon Williams also both reaching a milestone in the game.

Holmes made his 100th appearance for Tranmere, and Fon Williams also made his 100th league appearance for the club.
