Fonners - We Couldn't Have Done More
Goalkeeper and penalty save hero Owain fon Williams has said that he feels there were plenty of positives for Tranmere to take from the loss to Port Vale.
Speaking to the Official Site following the one nil loss, the Welsh international pointed to the character shown by the team in the loss, and especially how they bounced back after being unfairly reduced to ten men.
Fonners admitted it was a desperately tough game, especially after losing the advantage on numbers but he felt we gave it all we could and were desperately unlucky when it came to the chances that didn't go our way.
'You take the ups and downs and get carried away, you've got to maintain a stable mind and carry on through. Yes, we're on a low and we lost the game, but we gave it our all and showed a lot of heart. In times things will get better.'
fon Williams called on the team to take all the positives we could from the last match and apply them properly in the upcoming game against Swindon so we get the result that we not only want but also the result that we desperately need to give our season another kick start.
We are way too up and down at the moment and we need to find some consistency and three defeats on the bounce is more than the right time to bring that to an end.
As for his penalty save, in true style the keeper admits he'd have more than swopped that for a victory, but in my mind being another goal down wouldn't have exactly helped us anyway and given how tight things are at the moment, goal difference could count - not come the end of the season - but with a few results goal difference could be a place or two and give everybody a boost.
