'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Goodison Commits To New Deal

Defender Ian Goodison has committed himself to a new one year contract with Tranmere.

After joining us back in 2004, he has turned out 390 times for the club and that appearance record is only beaten by 10 players in our 92 year history.

He is also the most capped Jamaican international of all time with 120 international appearances.

Speaking to the Official Site the gaffer said of his contract extension.

'I'm really pleased Ian will be here for another year, he has been a fantastic footballer for the club over the past nine years. He's not like any other player I've ever worked with, he's a one off. People might be surprised I've offered him a contract at the age of 40 but Ian doesn't play like a 40 year old.'

A big plus for Moore is the experience that Goodison carries with him and he adds that both on and off the pitch he's an absolute delight to have around and working with the youngsters, passing on words of wisdom and the like.

Goodison himself said of the deal.

'I love Tranmere and am very happy to stay here.'
